Farewell to Rick and Judy

Rick and his wife Judy Marples arrived in our midst in 1998. Since then they have been at the centre of our parish activities. Judy has worked in the Diocesan offices as well as taking part in so many parish events. Fr. Rick has been a mentor, a spiritual advisor, a healer and a teacher. With Rick and Judy's retirement, a chapter closes in the life of the people of Saint James'. With them go our thanks, our best wishes and our prayers.
Sunday 27 June marked the final service held by Fr. Rick. The church was filled to overflowing, as hundreds of people turned up to worship God, and to wish Rick and Judy Godspeed. Following the service a reception was held in Tomkins Hall, and after that a luncheon at the Orchard View Conference Centre. Presided over by Laird Shutt, it featured affectionate tributes, songs and presentations from parish groups.
