Time and Talent Auction
Saturday 17 April 2010

With the help of many volunteers, Frank Sisson has once again staged a highly successful time and talent auction to raise money for those in need.  Remember the last one?  It provided help to Saint Luke's Church, Belem, near the Amazon River.

This time the need lay in Haiti, specifically the Orphanage de La Judee, which has been destroyed, leaving many children without shelter.  Earlier this year Grace Agostinho, who runs the French Café, took on the Manotick Project to raise funds to help the orphanage to rebuild.  Many local groups got behind the project.  At Saint James' it was Frank Sisson who answered the call.  Parishioners were asked to donate their own time and talent as items for sale.  In the event, 43 items went on the block, including babysitting, gourmet meals, hairdressing, and many others.  Many of these same parishioners turned up as bidders (no, no one bought their own talents) at a fun-filled evening with auctioneer Frank.  The evening started with dessert and coffee, with background music styled by ace pianist Hrvoje Peric.  Then it was on to the bidding, fast, furious and funny! Our thanks go to Frank, and to all of those who helped out.
