Regional Stewardship Conference
Saturday 3 June 2006

The Diocese of Ottawa is embarking upon a Diocesan Stewardship Campaign, to take place over the next three years.  Part of this comprises training sessions at a Deanery Level.  On Saturday 3 June, parish representatives from the Deaneries of Carleton and of Lanark met at the Church of Saint John the Evangelist in Smiths Falls for this purpose.  Saint James' parish (we are in the Deanery of Carleton) was represented by Father Rick, Ron Brophy, and Spruce Riordon.

The session dealt with the first step in parish stewardship, the development of a mission statement.  If a parish is to revitalize itself, it must first know what it is about.  This is a step which our parish took at the beginning of the renewal campaign.  We of Saint James' parish see ourselves as a Christian community joyfully serving and growing in God's love.

The session was led by Fr. John Bridges of Saint Paul's, Kanata.
