A Choral Celebration (cont'd)
Sunday 28 May 2006

A gathering in Tomkins Hall followed the service, beginning with the choir singing of an Ode to Hugh, continuing with the cutting of a "musical" cake, and general celebration.  The choir would like to thank organist Wayne Whitney for his sterling work in putting together the music, and rehearsing the choir, especially in Haydn's magnificent but demanding piece "The Heavens Are Telling".  Members of the choir and the congregation were also delighted by the visit of Terry and Judy O'Connor.  As choir director during the late 20th century (doesn't that sound historic?), Terry was responsible for introducing much of the choir's repertoire, including the Haydn masterpiece.  Judy is also well known to us as a good friend and talented alto singer.
