The Saint James' Men's Group played host to a special visitor on Saturday March 25, when MP Pierre Polievre joined us for a discussion on Politics in Religion - Religion in Politics. Eighteen men from the parish turned out to hear Pierre's comments. He noted that Canada, unlike the USA, has no formal separation of the two areas, and that there was naturally some interplay between them. What is needed, he said, is a balance: on the one hand, avoid fear, the fear of any mention of religion; on the other hand, smugness is bound to be a 'turn-off' which may pointlessly alienate others. A question-and-answer session ensued. At the end of the session, Frank Sisson presented him with an honorary membership in the Men's Group.
