Society holds regular monthly meetings with
presentations of local and general historical interest, with periodic field
trips ·
Provides heritage presence at local community events
such as Dickinson Days, Kars Fair, and Christmas in the Gower ·
Encourages research on historical topics for
presentation or publication ·
Publishes and maintains a library (for reference and
sale) of booklets relating to the heritage of Rideau Township and surrounding
area, such as the histories of Manotick, Kars, North Gower and Burritts Rapids. When ·
Meetings are usually held on the third Wednesday of
each month throughout the year with the exception of summer months Where ·
Meetings at selected
sites of historical interest such as the Rideau Township Archives in
North Gower, etc. Why ·
Collect and preserve historical information relating to
the former Township

Share it through presentations, publications and
participation in community events ·
Assist individuals and other organizations with have
