Eco-Justice at Saint James’ Church

kairosSt. James Anglican Church, Manotick, teaches caring for God’s creation and His people, near or far, regardless of race, religion, or condition. We publish a monthly newsletter, Eco-Echo, which provides ecological and social justice information.

We support Kairos Canada (kairoscanada.org), the Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives, a dynamic church-based social justice movement.

KAIROS unites churches and religious organizations in a faithful ecumenical response to the call to “do justice, and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8). We deliberate on issues of common concern, advocate for social change and join with people of faith and goodwill in action for social transformation.

KAIROS works with its members, partners and network in the following areas: aboriginal rights, anti-poverty, corporate issues, ecology, education and animation, global economic justice, international, refugees and migration and international human rights.

The U.S. Episcopal Church reminds us that ecology, from a Greek word, expressed the concept of household or dwelling and can be understood as the relationship between living beings , the environment in which they live and God, the Creator (www.eenonline.org)

Here at St. James, to paraphrase the words of Ghandi, we must be the change we want to see.
